Alan Marquart

Alan B. Marquardt

( September 23, 1955 - July 07, 2020 )

Alan B. Marquardt, 64, of Niles, MI passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at Lakeland Hospital in Niles.
He was born September 23, 1955 in Niles to Ben and Barbara Marquardt. On September 1, 2003, he married Char Wilson (Dunifin) in Las Vegas, NV.
Alan is survived by his wife Char, his mother, Barbara Johnson; son, Aaron Marquardt; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Abigail & Robert Rudnicki; sister, Shelley Reed; and his grandchildren, Aubrey, Kadience, Robert Jr., Rhys and Ryler.
He is preceded in death by his father, Ben.
Al was the best kind of husband, son, father, brother and grandfather (Papa) anyone could wish for. Those who were privileged to know him witnessed his kindness, sensitivity, humor and love on a daily basis.
Al enjoyed the simple things most of all. He loved fishing with his best buddy, Andy, working in the yard, and the Thursday Night Poker group (20 + years-even on Thanksgiving!) was legendary.
He was employed at Schrader Steel Fabrication for many years and had numerous friends there.
He loved spending time with his family, and it was a given that every year he would be at the Apple Festival with the wife, kids and grandkids.
He will be sorely missed by his family and friends and his fur babies.
You will never leave our hearts, my baby.
Funeral services for Alan will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service. Burial will follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens. A gathering to celebrate his life will follow-details will be announced the day of the service. I got to see Alan just a few times a year, like everyone here in Niles at Martins Super Market. The last time I saw him he seemed healthy & as always happy. I'm sorry to say good bye to him. It seems at least every couple months now we are unlucky to see our friends here in this column. God is lucky to have Alan with him, but he will be missed here with us. Rest in peace my friend & God Bless all your family you leave behind.

Alan was a good man and friend. His door was always open to just about anyone. i would come in town and stop by and see him and some of our other class mates, having their thursday night poker game. first thing he would say is hey jerry come on in. by the time i got thru the door the other guys would be, hey jerry how long you in town for. lets get together and do something. What a great feeling. Always knew where my friends were  and always felt welcome.Alan always had a smile on his face.and treated everyone with respect. He will be missed by all who new him. Rest in Peace Alan.
