William Hamberger (Teacher)

 

William E. Hamberger, 75 of Berrien Springs, died Friday, January 7, 2000 at Lakeland Medical Center, St. Joseph, MI.
 
Born Dec. 21, 1924 in LaGrange, Ohio, he had been an area resident for 50 years. During this time, he was a choral music teacher for Hartford High School for 3 years, Watervliet High School for 16 years and Niles High School for 20 years. He also taught at Western Michigan University and at the Niles Westside Seventh-day Adventist Church School. He was a founding member of the Musicians Guild and was currently the director of the Hand bell Choir at Pioneer Memorial Church--a position which he held for 15 years. He was a member of the Pioneer Memorial Church and was a veteran of WWII having served his country with the U.S. Army.
 
On August 21, 1949, in Buffalo, N.Y., he married Ruth Wagner who survives.
 
Also surviving is a daughter, Joan Calfee of Dayton, Ohio; two sons, David Hamberger of Madison, Tenn., and Kevin Hamberger of Berrien Center; a grandson and 2 sisters.

Sharon Simons (Hettinger)

I believe that he died in 2000.
