Edward Mihelich (Teacher)

 

Edward Mihelich, 82 of Niles, Michigan, died Nov. 16, 2000 at his home.
 
He was born on March 17, 1918 in Calumet and has lived in Niles since 1962.
 
On Feb. 11, 1956, he married Charlene J. Miswick in Waukegan, Illinois who survives.
 
He was a retired Social Studies teacher from the Niles Public Schools (Ring Lardner) and was a frequent contributor of articles to the Niles Daily Star newspaper. 
 
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the author of several books.
 
He is also survived by his son Michael Milhelich of Albion; daughter Kathleen Black of South Bend, Indiana and 3 grandchildren.

Rex Carpenter

Mr. Mihelich was also one of the teachers at the now closed Electric Light School on pucker St. He was the 6th grade teacher and when the school closed while I was in 4th grade but I did have him for a class at Ring Lardner. He also lived just down the street from Electric Light for a very long time. He was a very smart man.
