Ahhh, 'Uncle Wally', What can I say about you?

He was a very tolerant  and forgiving and patient person: he put with me and my fellow miscreants in Ring Lardner Junior High band without killing us, and I KNOW it had to have been hard at times.  He had a great sense of humor and he treated all the students with respect.

A very big heart and a ton of patience. Kind of a requisite for Junior High band teachers. And yet, he inspired us to give our best effort and in the end, we ended up making music, which was a pretty amazing thing and something that I have treasured for the rest of my life. He had a positive affect on hundreds, if not thousands of young and impressionable minds. He taught us to take pride in what we did and that was NOT an easy task!  I am grateful for having had him as my band director in those incredibly formative years.

I raise my glass to you Tim Schrader!  You made a difference!

Steve Richter
