Babette Joan Racht, 66 of Niles, passed away unexpectedly on January 3, 2023, after a brief illness.

She was born in Niles, Michigan on July 16, 1956. Babette graduated from Niles High School. She was employed at her family’s business, Rowley’s Family Shoe Store, until she retired. Her passions included the love for her cats and dogs, cooking, and she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Babette was blessed, and survived by her four sons, Rodney Dokey Jr., Travis (Holly) Dokey, Chaten Reese, McCade (Morgan) Reese; her mother; Gloria Racht, brother; Steve Racht, sister; Diane Boller; grandchildren, Brielynne Reese, McKenna Reese, Mazlynn Reese, Emerie Dokey, and Skyler Gordon.

She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Racht Sr., and her brother, Richard Racht Jr.

Funeral will be private with immediate family and close friends. Interment will take place at 12:00 PM at Calvary Cemetery in Niles, with Father Christian Johnston of St Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church officiating. A Celebration of Life open house will be held from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Edwardsburg Conservation Club Hall, 26524 Pine Lake Street, Edwardsburg, Michigan following the committal.

Her family has requested memorial contributions be made to Brown Funeral Home in Niles.
