Sharon Simons (Hettinger)

Just giving thanks for being able to re-connect with so many of you via this web-site, the class reunion this past summer, and through personal contacts established courtesy of this great website!

And, may you all have just enough turkey, give a word of thanks for all that you have, for loved ones, and for those who have been an influence on your life...

Give thanks, if it is part of your life, to your Creator and Sustainer, for the many blessings granted to you.

And, please lift prayers for those who are serving in combat and are away from family and friends--for their safety, and for knowing that we continue to care for them.

And, also, prayers for those who are struggling, for those in any kind of need--body, mind, spirit...for wholeness.

Have a blessed Thanks-Giving Day.

Just one clarification, to whom it may concern: The Raiders are not, strictly speaking, a college football team! Just ask the fans of a certain Pittsburg team...

Survey completed and looking for a "Top 5" answer field for the songs, bands, junk food etc...thanks Wendy!

We have been bombarded (not!) by the winter storm that crossed the plains...

VERY cold (below zero!) temps, some snow (2") some ice and a number of accidents, of course. We were told to expect 8-12" of snow, so this is a great reprieve--it went just west and north of us, so we didn't get our snow day[s] as expected. RATS.

But, at least I didn't have to cancel choir rehearsals yesterday, as we prepare for our big ADVENT LESSONS & CAROLS. If any of you watch the specials around this time of year, Christmas Lessons and Carols, from King's College in the UK, often is a favorite for folks. We do an 'Advent'--the season that precedes Christmas (4 weeks)-- a 'waiting'-'preparation' time for Christmas...So, it's trickier to avoid singing Christmas carols and focus on the other aspects of the season--and it makes picking the music hard!

But, we had most everyone make it in to rehearsal last night--just two folks couldn't get out/in.

+ + +

How can one upload music to our profile page, from a CD??

Thanks for the info.

~Sharon

Cynthia: And now with the holiday weather is our Action News meteorologist, Jack Frost.
Thanks, Cynthia. From our station here in Cyberspace, we already have a doppler radar siting of something eminating from near the North Pole! Let's see if we can get a picture of it up here, where you can all see...

I don't know how many of you local Niles people ever visited the Stateline Dairy Queen, but the owner just passed away from a terrible head injury after he fell off the roof of his building doing maintenance work. He was only 51.

My mother and I had the pleasure of doing mutual business with Bob and his wife, Pam, for many, many years, even before their son was born.

He was a wonderful and uplifting person to know, and guided many people throughout their lives. Please take a moment and say a prayer (or give a moment of silence) in order to honor a man who became a pillar of our community. Thanks, everyone.

Is anyone having trouble when you click on the Favorites survey, then click on View Survey Results? Are you able to see everyone's answers or are you getting an error message? Let me know as I've had reports of issues. If you are having trouble, please email me with the error message you are getting. Thanks. Wendy

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to all!

"And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. And he puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more." -Dr. Seuss

Merry Christmas and happy new year to you all! We have much to be thankful for.
