Wendy Rehm (Comar)

I'd like to hear what your best and worst holiday gift was when you were a child (under age 18)?

For me--the best gift was my first 2 wheeler, 'big girl' bike. It was turquoise and white with a bell and a white basket to carry important "stuff". I lived out in the country on an 80 acre farm (near Cassopolis) so I had lots of territory to cover with it. It gave me a great sense of freedom and independence----to get away from my parents and 3 brothers. I loved that bike.....

The worst gift? My Mom gave me this winter hat that looked like Cousin Eddie's from National Lampoon's Christmas vacation....you know with the ear flaps and crazy fake fur around the face?......it was an ugly army green......I know she just wanted me to stay warm---but I couldn't stand it...I took it off the minute I was outta her sight. Thanks for trying Mom!

Best gift: A reel-to-reel tape recorder when I was 10.

Worst gift: socks.

Well...it's nearly that time of year....

when those of us in church music go into OVERDRIVE...
so, before I totally miss the opportunity to wish you all a merry, blessed, meaningful, holy day -- here it is!

May this time spent with family and friends be especially meaningful as you reflect upon this time: giving from the heart and giving from your own self...that is the best.

"and a little child shall lead them..."

For those who celebrate the true meaning of Christ-mass, may Christ's presence be found in your heart anew each day.

May God bless you all with his hope, peace, and love,
~Sharon

I haven't been on in awhile, so I thought this would be a good time to join you all and wish you a "very Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year"!

I have really enjoyed getting to know all of you again this past year. What a blessing to have graduated with such wonderful people who would still care to stay in touch after 35 years! We are unique and I thank God for each and every one of you, my friends!

Be blessed!

Look out, y'all, I am now connected to the "Information Superhighway!" I'm typing to you from a "cybercafe," on a "laptop computer," my new favorite Christmas gift. Other than my Snuggie, which is another thing...
Welcome to the future! I'm "surfing the web" using "Wifi" technology. Oh, and I'll be able to record some new songs now, using this rig, maybe I'll be able to share them with you all.
Happy, happy, joy, joy to all.

Cheryl Frame (Malinowski)

Hi Class of '74! I would like to re-introduce myself! I have missed everyone - old friends and new friends! I am kind of back ... rough year. I am going through the old posts right now then I will take a look at that groovy fav. survey site!! I will try to bring all my peeps up to date ...maybe tomorrow ;)
I left for what was supposed to be 4 quick days of sunshine right before Christmas and it was one disaster after another. Two days stuck in Philly during the "blizzard of 2009" was not my cup of tea, record setter or not! Now I have cooties from being on a total of 8 planes with less than satisfactory ventilation systems. TTYL!

12/28/09 04:28 PM #3342

Cheryl Frame (Malinowski)

Just don't go through Philly. They aren't very friendly in a mid-western sort of way! Are you biking it down to the Keys? I will be back in Mexico in April where everyone is friendly or maybe I just can't tell what they are saying about me!!

Cheryl -

I thought you'd just rededicated yourself to the class of 75 since they seem to still enjoy your comments...

Hope you're having a great Christmas break - you deserve it for educating the children of today.

We're still trying to watch the 11" of snow (a record for December for OKC) melt but could be getting another 2 to 4" today.

Enjoy the rest of your holidays.

I have been talking to Terry Wisler a bit and I told him that he needed to spice up their forum a bit. I guess he was on ours for a bit so he challenged me to get on their forum but I wasn't about to misjudge the crowd!!
The forum must develop on its own...things like that must not be forced ;) Kathy Walker-Burgess is going to Mexico with us during Spring Break. Even though I know many of those peeps - my heart and soul will always be in '74 4-ever! I think it would be a blast to merge the years 72-75! We need to do that before we get too old!!

2009 is almost done, but heck, it was a lot of fun!

The following is a quote by George Carlin:

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally used up and worn out, shouting '..man,what a ride!

Have a wonderful and prosperous New Year everyone and get out and have some fun with old friends and new!!

Brenda

I guess that leaves it up to me, to summarize this year, this decade, this 35 years since man first put a VW on the moon... say, was that another Haslett joke?@??!
As Joe Paquette would say, "What a long, strange trip it's been," or maybe it wasn't Joe. Maybe it was Slobbodan Milosevic.
The number-one-most-important event of these last 35 or 10 or one year have been... fill in the blank. Phil in the blank, Phil N. de Blank. Tragic, really.
Back to you, Kat.

Susan Botts (Flowers--Class Of '75)

Happy New year to all as I think of you,
May your resolutions work whatever you do,
keep them, do them, do not give in,
to temptations that stop you from making a win.
Exercise, diet, stop smoking or whatever,
You must stay strong to every endeavor.

Dear Friends, Here we are, in twenty-and-ten,
And on our old FORUM, it's quiet again.

Perhaps our class now is still--like a bear--
Hibernating, waiting, for someone to share

A tidbit of new news, a poem, a story
To keep us updated, precluded from worry

About how this new year might treat us just so
Let's celebrate friendships with spirits, let's go

Onto this website and enter our news--
Here's hoping that someone will access THEIR muse!

+ + +

Happy 2010...just another decade and we can enjoy a perfect vision, eh?! [2020]

It's amazing that someone with so much poetic talent came from some little po-dunk town like Niles....I'm still here...just suffering from cabin fever

01/02/10 10:07 PM #3357

Sharon Simons (Hettinger)

Cabin fever, eh?

I've been mostly INside since Christmas Eve, when I was snow-bound in Kansas City, following my three Christmas Eve services.

Had help plowing me out the next morning; got to Lawrence, and was stuck TWO times before making it close to the house .

We had a bit more snow today, and expect some overnight and tomorrow. It will seem like just a bit compared to our nearly 12"!!
