If you have photos of any of our classmates who have passed away, please upload them to the new In Memory Photo Gallery!  We will be using them to create a special tribute during reunion activities.  Thanks.

We have great news today for our classmates on Facebook! You can now do all of the things you can do on our class web site from inside Facebook. It's called Class Connection, and you'll find it's very simple to join and use. Follow these 3 quick steps to get connected:

  1. Log into our class web site at http://www.NilesHigh1974.org
  2. Click the "Class Connection" link under Member Functions on the left navigation bar.
  3. On the Class Connection Join Screen click the blue "Join Class" button and accept the app permissions.

That's it - you're Facebook connected!

There are some exciting new features available here such as the ability to send your Notify Me notices to the Facebook notification globe. You can use the Easy Invite tool to help us find missing classmates and invite them to join our class. Class Connection also provides a Visit Another Class feature that allows you to browse around other classes.

Here's a few important things you should know:

  • Everything you do on Class Connection is mirrored on our class web site. Everything you do on our class web site is mirrored on Class Connection…. they work as one. Class Connection is just a convenient method of participating with our class from the Facebook environment.
  • Class Connection is 100% as private and secure as our class web site. No personal/private data whatsoever is shared with Facebook. The Class Connection developers made an overview video about the topic of privacy here: https://www.youtube.com/_eHf7tWS8sE
  • Your Profile privacy settings are honored on Class Connection. Only the people who you have already permitted to view your Profile are the same people who can view your Profile using Class Connection. Click Edit Profile if you wish to review your privacy settings.

Need help?  Here is a link to some instructional videos---https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCarjDn9H23WXIji1dGAQdww. Videos include:

  1. How to Join Class Connection
  2. All About Privacy
  3. Adding Additional Profile Photos and Videos
  4. The all new Easy Invite Tool
  5. Inviting Classmates with Graph Search
  6. Right Module Tool
  7. Visit Another Class
  8. Class Connection Syncs with your Class Web Site

I hope you enjoy the new Facebook connection to our class site.

Does anyone else have issues posting to the message forum from FB?  I have a report that it isn't working but I can't seem to replicate that issue.

Yes, I'm not able to post via Facebook...the application will not allow me to get any futher that selecting our High School's name and Class Year, then it goes right back to the same page for me to select the same information again.  I'm using an iMac with Apple's Webbrowser Safari....could that be a problem?

If you are having trouble with FB functionality in the Class Connection site, try this:

Make sure you are not blocking cookies. Set third party cookie blocking to none. Also for good measure try clearing all cookies and cache.  Then click on Contact Us if you still have issues and give me details on what is happening.  Thanks all.  Wendy

Shall we gather at the Riverfront--no, I've heard it's closed! So what's the new watering hole in Niles? And what's its address? That way I can Google-Earth it and put myself right down on the sidewalk in front. Then I'll try to Google my way in the door and get myself a virtual drink, which I'll Google down real fast. So far I haven't been able to do these things, must be a glitch or I must need some kinda new hardware, maybe a helmet with beer holders and tubes running down to my mouth. Anyone wanna virtually join me??

JL - Sounds like a good time to be had by one and all - especially those in "real" attendance. Like you state - for those of us unable to attend we'll just have to hoist a pretend drink with them. Little do those in attendance know that our drinks taste as good as thiers do - and since some of us live in later time zones we get to start drinking earlier than they do so we'll have a better time quicker than they will! See you Saturday in the "nether" world.

I like that, Tommie! It's virtually always five o'clock somewhere!! Maybe we should do the whole reunion by Skype?? That way I can count how many root beers you drink!

I just found out that Les Holt passed away today. He passed from liver & kidney failure. Rest in peace my good friend.

That's so sad. I was hoping to see Les next month.

I thought I saw something on fb, so this is where I came to check.

It's like family.

JL - My mother in law's favorite clock has all the digits at the bottom in a very scrambled order. Margie will kill me for putting this in there but it has always meant to her that drinking at anytime is allowed. Funny the influence an Orchard Hills "social" membership can have. Then again - we did have our senior party @ OHCC, didn't we?

I really love keeping the site up to date and watching all the messages and updates---but it is painful to keep posting obituaries.  Someone send me something funny to post---PLEASE!

Hey, this is working for me thru fb now! Thanks, Wendy!

Tom, I have no clear memory of the OH graduation party. But my unclear memories indicate I was having a good time! I remember sleeping in my green Pinto quite a while . . .

JL - Since the cross country team used OH as the home course my first year maybe I remember OH differently. What I remember most is not being allowed down the steps to the basement unless you could proof you were 18. Then again - all you had to do was walk outside and go down to the basement door and then you could get access to the beer keg. Good "security" right?  What ever happened to the Pinto? Is is somebody's storm shelter now or did Ford buy it back before it was involved in an explosion?

All Pintos go to heaven, Tommie! Because they're dogs!!!

Cross country at Orchard Hills... I don't remember the orchard, but oh Lord do I remember the hills!  Coach Kelly went on to coach track at ND.  Track, where they run on a flat surface, or so I hear.

Abbott - Orchard Hills just was home to CC until very early in our junior year - when Marty Kirk (from St Joe) got hit in the head by an errant 10th hole tee shot - then it was onto Morris Farms and the covered bridge and horse jumps for our home course. Coach K still managed to find hills for us to do "repeats" on - he just couldn't see from top to bottom like he could @ OH.
