You are right on!
As Steve can tell anyone, This was a very large class of students. We all had our own "groups" that we were a part of. Outside of our circle of friends we passed each other in the halls and faces looked familiar, but we could not always place names on them. The same is true today! How many times have those of us passed a class mate and not known it? How many lines have we stood in and the person in front of us was a class mate?
Let's continue to enjoy this site, and share our thoughts and re-fresh our minds. The Reunion will be the place where we can place names to those faces!

I am looking foward to the Reunion where we can make those conections again and make new ones!

Dave F - Doubtful for the reunion? C'mon - you're "retired" remember? Besides for us other out of towners July won't work. You need to change your plans, dude - or just double up on the trips. Break the new toy in with another cross country trip!

Pam very well said, I wouldn't be surprised the times I've been back in town over the past 35 years visiting family and gone out to either Lowes, Wal-Mart, University Mall that I probably walked right pass classmates and not even recognized them...and from the sound of it many of you that live in the Michiana area are most likely experiencing the same nonrecognition of each other. I really like this site and truly look forward to attending the reunion...and there's nothing wrong to gravitate towards friendships and memories we had in High School, but now we are more mature and can accept all of our classmates for who they are now.

Hope this makes sense.

Ditto that Vance! I just saw Eddie Dunifin's current pic and I would have NEVER recognized him. Okay, now I'm sure people don't call him Eddie anymore but some people just get frozen in time. Pat Benjamin came back a few years ago during River Fest and she told me that she was looking around for former classmates. The problem was, that it finally dawned on her that she was looking for people in their mid to late 20's when she should have been looking for "old people"!! Now mind you, her daughter is 27!! I often find myself doing the same thing! In fact - true story! Last year I ran into Randi Cochran, I think Shummy's sister and we were talking, I introduced myself and said, "I think you used to be my busdriver-Dutch" Randi said, no that was my mom, she passed a few years ago. She was very gracious and said, "Oh,that's okay, many people say that I look just like my mom". The point is that Dutch's face was frozen in my mind and I guess that I hadn't thought that she had changed, even after 34 years. I remember going to parties at Randi and someone's little house back behind the old Shula's but I couldn't get my foot out of my mouth so I didn't mention that part!
So, the really really point of this tale is...so many people live in the area and I never run into you, so if ANYONE should happen to recognize me,...or what you think might be my mother, could you please reintroduce yourself?! ;) Okay, I'm better now!

I guess there is no question about name tags!!

ok -nice to see a little controversy here.... Isn't that what life is all about?
A couple of old dudes were chatting in the nursing home one morning - one was complaining to the other about his "incontinence". The 2nd guy says, "I have no worries - I pee at 6, I poop at 7, and I get out of bed at 8! The moral of the story: Life could be much worse than the misinterpretation of a blog....

Sandy, Amen....

Steve your are right on with the name tag suggestion, because I know I won't remember everyone's name and won't be able to associate everyones appearance now to their appearance in 1974. So, everyone please accept my advance apologies if I stumble with names and faces at the reunion...because I do not expect everyone to remember mine, but be kind and don't gasp as 35 years does take a toll on one! ;)

Vance - just remember to excuse us when we try to call you Allen...

Tom, actually it can come in handy to be able to be mistaken for another identity at times, especially at work when things go south! I look forward to seeing you and Margie at the reunion :)

I think we should all mix up our name tags and play a guessing game! The game is called "Three Guesses and a Shot" It isn't a real game but it sounds like fun and I have until Aug. 1st to make up the rules;)

I must say this, Miss Cheryl, you are ALWAYS thinking!! or is it scheming? Hmmmm have to think on that one. It's good that we've got everybody talking, it's been much too long. Keep it up, it has been enjoyable.

I am going to cancel my check! I want another opinion because I'm not quite sure if I like that bedside manner, Mr. America. Black belt or no black belt I wanted to hear that I needed a stiff belt and everything would be better in the morning!
