Farrell Gilliland (Teacher)

Farrell L. Gilliland, Sr., 83 of Berrien Springs, died Monday, May 21, 2001 following an extended illness.

He was born Nov. 9, 1917 in Haswell, Colorado. He was a graduate of Andrews University and Western Michigan University where he received a Master’s of Education degree. Before his retirement, he taught Building Trades at Niles High School and at Andrews University Technology Education Department in the College of Technology. He was a member of the Pioneer Memorial Church and resided in Berrien Springs for the past 51 years.
 
On June 15, 1941, in Flat River, Missouri, he married Maxine Bell, who survives. The couple enjoyed nearly 60 years of marriage together.
 
Additional survivors include a daughter, Anne Kantor of Niles, MI; a son, Farrell Gilliland II of Enterprise, Kansas; 3 grandchildren; one brother and 5 sisters.
