Mr. Wheeler was my Driver's Ed. instructor. What a character. Always telling me to "get the big picture", banging on the top of the car and messing with the radio.

He would not allow me to drive the stick outside of the school parking lot. Go figure. He made me drive over the 5th St. bridge, though.

I had just about given up on driving, who needs it anyway? He showed up at my house early in the morning, I believe it was Ginger VanSchoiak (sp) who knocked on my window and he forced me to take two extra days so I could pass.

He was fun.

Mr. Wheeler was truly a GREAT and caring teacher, coach and friend. Sue, Peg and Mike were all just ahead of us in school ... Mike graduated in 1973. Ole Charlie never took things too seriously ... and was always in good spirits ... I remember when Mrs. Wheeler passed in 1982 ... and I am glad to see he rebounded in 1987 ... you go boy! TJG
