DC....loved that band....but sorry my mind was probably too wasted at that time to remember much of anything other than they were good for a barn party of ours.

Even back then, Fred could pull together a great party....what a great Marketing Mind to go so early in life.

Debbie , agreed about Fred. He wanted everyone to have good time, even if he lost money on the deal, (at least in high school!) I have to believe he got wise and actually made some cash with "Fast Freddie & The Playboys".

Suellen Etzcorn (Foster)

I just got back from a five day meeting in New Orleans, and I saw some "thangs" that would make a sand sculpture we could all get arrested for building in Michigan!

The food was good but the massive bowl of Bananas Foster I ate is NOT going to help me get into the ultra-low-rise-hip-hugger-bellbottom jeans I bought for the class reunion! Where did we used to put our guts when we wore those damn things in high school? Of yeah... we didn't have any guts in high school. Speaking of guts... right before the gang arrived at my house for the last class reunion meeting, I bent over to set down a tub of ice for the beer and blew out the two clasps in the "stretch" jeans I was wearing. It was a real confidence builder, my friends!

Well, it's a beautiful Saturday in the midwest so I'm heading out to the yard to pull weeds and hum hits from the seventies - it helps eliminate my frustrations that build up during another work week in the jungle!

Have a good day!

I found this via a google search for Fast Freddy... But I would like to know more... This was written by Ken Wise, one of the playboy dancers.

"Fast Freddy and The Playboys" created by Fred Byler, and billed as "The King of Male Strippers", from Niles, Michigan. The first group of its kind and the pioneers of the traveling Male Dance Troupe. Performing and singing to Female Only audiences across the United States throughout the 1980s to sold out crowds numbering in the thousands at a single venue. They traveled nationally as a group for more than a decade. Recording Artist Album Titled "Fast Freddy..For Ladies Only"(1980). The group was known for always arriving by Stretch Limousines wearing their matching trademark white tailed tuxedos with red bow tie and cumberbuns. They were historically the first male exotic dancers to be seen by millions of Americans on many major television shows including including ABCs 20/20, The Today Show,The Phil Donahue Show, and The Sally Jesse Raphael Show, Etc. They were also featured in numerous national magazine articles including Time, Playboy, and Oahu Magazines.

We ordered a special trophy, 4 foot tall, and will hold all the names ( of our team) I mean the winning team, to put into the hall of fame!!! The losing team will have a ( shovel) put into the hall of shame!

Sharon Simons (Hettinger)

And, Steve, hopefully you didn't go to the trouble of inscribing your team's names onto the trophy yet, because you'd likely have to either exchange the trophy for a new one...OR ... have all your names scratched out!

sue-sue what you wanna know bout the bar of freds?

06/09/09 10:29 AM #2505

Suzi Jasper

Sue-Sue, one of Fred's bars (if he had more than one) was located in Roseland. My step-mother's nephew's uncle was one of his dancers. We can't remember if it was the Oar House, or if it was where the old Pendleton Pub was down there across the state line.

There was another "seedy" bar betwixt the two and we gals can't remember the name of the place or remember if THAT one was Freddie's. I'm curious, too, so my step-mom is working on finding out.
