Hey I got my reunion invite today in the mail! GREAT job Guys!!! But - now I'm going to show my ignorance here for all to read :) - but what the heck does T.C.B. (on the front cover) stand for???

06/25/09 06:19 PM #2684

Vance Allen

Same here nice job on the invitation! I think TCB means "Taking Care of Business"? Hi Sue! :)

Jim Lanier

I'm with you, Sue! The "class of '74 is ready to T.C.B."
How can we know we're ready if we don't know what we're ready for? Guesses:
Tom Calvin Bonner, I know I'm not ready for that!
Try chicken & beef?
Totally carry Bennet?
Task cerebral bounty?
Thread colored buttons?
Tempt caroling Bosnians?
Test Charlie Brown?
Tamper charcoal briquettes?
Terminate charred buns?
Terrify Christian Backwoodsmen?
Tip carnal beasts?
Top celled barfers?

06/25/09 08:11 PM #2686

Jim Lanier

Teeter cob bisque?
Tender currency brusquely?
Talk current bon mots?
Tear calico beanies?
Trust cool babes?
Tranquilize certain barbarians?

06/25/09 08:13 PM #2687

David Howells

That's complete, buddy!

06/25/09 08:20 PM #2688

Tom Bonner

Taking Care of Business an Elvis saying and a song by Bauchman Tuener Overdrive. JL and if the mayor says it could be Thomas Calvin Bonner.

Oh, I see. You mean...

You get up every morning
From your alarm clock's warning
Take the 8:15 into the city

There's a whistle up above
And people pushin', people shovin'
And the girls who try to look pretty

And if your train's on time
You can get to work by nine
And start your slaving job to get your pay

If you ever get annoyed
Look at me I'm self-employed
I love to work at nothing all day
And I'll be...

Taking care of business every day
Taking care of business every way
I've been taking care of business, it's all mine
Taking care of business and working overtime
Work out

SOLO

If it were easy as fishin'
You could be a musician
If you could make sounds loud or mellow

Get a second-hand guitar
Chances are you'll go far
If you get in with the right bunch of fellows

People see you having fun
Just a-lying in the sun
Tell them that you like it this way

It's the work that we avoid
And we're all self-employed
We love to work at nothing all day

And we be...
Taking care of business every day
Taking care of business every way
I've been taking care of business, it's all mine

Taking care of business and working overtime
Take good care of my business
When I'm away, every day whoo!

I am suddenly reminded that the distinctive Farrah Fawcett hairstyle was terribly popular one year. Still got those curling irons, ladies?

There was also a guy who was into mime, and practiced what later became known as the moonwalk whenever the teacher left the room. He was a year ahead of us, I can't remember his name and maybe that's good. He would give Michael Jackson no competition whatsoever.

06/27/09 12:13 AM #2701

Steve Merica

Karen McGregor (Bezemek)

Hey Sue!! The TCB is an Elvis thing from the 70's - Taking Care of Business. : ) But it affectionately is the initials of our (in)famous Mayor Tom C. Bonner too!! Glad you liked the invites. It was fun to do.

Debbie Curtis (Harrington)

Hey, came to Niles today for a Memorial Service.....something was going on downtown, and guess what, they were doing Sand Scultping!!

SM were you down there taking lessons? Oh that's right....you don't have to "Really" sculpted anything, your just gonna cheat!

I still think it will be fun to play in the sand at the Old Tower Hill. I think it's been at least 35 years sence I was there.....probably the night of graduation.

06/27/09 07:57 PM #2704

Steve Merica

Deb, I thought you knew me! I would'nt cheat! I want a fair contest all the way! We will have bragging rights for five years, how sweet is that!!!!

06/27/09 08:05 PM #2705

Debbie Curtis (Harrington)

Saw Theresa and John V downtown today. Was kinda funny driving down the old main street and seeing friends!

Steve, you have always been a tough competitor. I'm sure some things donot change about us even as we get older. We just have to get more creative about our challenges to acheive success!!

Really can't wait till July 31st.

PS To all Amy Gregory will be in town July 5th from Florida for the first time in 20+ years. She willnot be back for the reunion. I am driving in from the Lake to meet Theresa and spend the day with the girls. Watch out Niles!

Abbott Dave,

I was surprised that you were the only member of our class to mention Farrah and M.J., and waited to see who would make a comment on our forum first. Let us all not forget Ed McMahon, either. All of these people have been "in" our lives for a very long time, whether we wanted them to be, or not.

I cried when Lucille Ball passed away, and felt dreadful over the deaths of Dale Evans and Roy Rogers. There are other celebrities which have made an impression on our lives. We should all take a moment and reflect, not only on the famous, but on everyone else that has, as well.

I grew up with Captain Kangaroo, Frazier Thomas, and The Lone Ranger. I learned how to be a good kid, and Julia taught me how to cook. Flip Wilson taught me how to be "sassy" and "savvy" at the same time. Bob Hope taught me how to laugh. Steve Erwin taught me how to "handle" a Michigan rattlesnake by picking it up with a stick from my yard as it was ready to strike one of my two Dalmations, and "throw" it as far and as hard as I could over my fence.

We, on this forum (as well as our friends not "online"), have survived many trials and tribulations.

Guess what?!? We're STILL HERE!!

06/27/09 11:54 PM #2707

Suzi Jasper

Um, I didn't mean to sound morose...just wondered if anyone famous has made an impression on anyone else's lives. Pre-1974, that is.
