Suzi: Not morose at all, just another fun walk down memory lane! I've never been all the "taken" with celebs, but must admit to falling "in love" with Jimmy Stewart the first time I saw Rear Window in an artsy theatre in Kalamazoo sometime in the late 70's. His death brought a tear or two.

David: are you thinking of Rob Rodebush?

Interesting thoughts, sassy and savvy Suzi! (Chris gon' find Ray Charles!)
I have trouble seeing much in Michael Jackson, after having lost John Lennon and George Harrison. Those were two men who made the world a better place, unconditionally.
We've mentioned David Carradine; it wasn't him so much as the screenwriters for Kung Fu that pointed me toward Eastern philosophy. Who knew TV was good for that?
And here's a shout out to Stevie Ray Vaughn, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker and Jimi Hendrix.

JL,

When my ex and I lived in Dallas, BC (before children), we would go to a little bar down the street from us, and listen to Stevie Ray right before his career took off. I remember the speakers went up to the ceiling (which doesn't mean they were real high cause it was a little bar) but they were BIG and they were LOUD! It would take 3 days to get my hearing back after a night of listening to him jack on his guitar, and WOW... could he ever! He was always one of my very favorite artists and it was a dark day for me when his plane went down!

It's all SRV's fault that my most used sound now is "huh?"

Jim Lanier

Well Sue, you've got a good excuse, huh?
My most-used grunt is "doh!" Thank God Homer Simpson is still with us!

May I weigh in with the names of two dearly departed celebs? Jim Henson and John Denver. Jim Henson -- what a fabulous imagination that guy had, and what an incredible positive influence he was and still is on generations of children. John Denver -- a true humanitarian who believed, as I do, that there is no excuse for hunger in this world; also an enormously gifted songwriter and a great entertainer. Since I moved here, the state of Colorado adopted "Rocky Mountain High" as the second official state song -- is that "far out" or what???

I would not be buying a ticket to one of M.J. concerts were he still with us. His personal choices were too far off center for me.

I enjoy watching him dance. He was very very good, and that is an understatement.

I know the words to a lot of his songs, and I don't even own any of his albums or CDs.

I remember being way up in a tree in my yard (in Niles) probably the summer of 1972, singing the chorus of Rockin Robin, a Jackson 5 song, at the top of my lungs.

He rocks in the tree tops all day long
Hoppin' and a-boppin' and singing his song
All the little birdies on Jaybird Street
Love to hear the robin go tweet tweet tweet

Rockin' robin, tweet tweet tweet
Rockin' robin' tweet tweetly-tweet
Blow rockin' robin
'Cause we're really gonna rock tonight

Every little swallow, every chick-a-dee
Every little bird in the tall oak tree
The wise old owl, the big black crow
Flappin' their wings singing go bird go

Rockin' robin, tweet tweet tweet
Rockin' robin' tweet tweetly-tweet
Blow rockin' robin
'Cause we're really gonna rock tonight
Yeah yeah

Pretty little raven at the bird-band stand
Told them how to do the bop and it was grand
They started going steady and bless my soul
He out-bopped the buzzard and the oriol

Wow, I didn't mean to create havoc on here. Lost another local/national celebrity: Billy Mays. I know many people who purchased the products he touted, whether they were scams, or not.

Michael Jackson did NOT make an impact on my life, but we all "grew up" with him, so it was hard to "ignore" his music, etc., for we were all "saturated" with it, whether we wanted to be, or not, no matter what radio station we chose as we were growing up. As if there were many choices.

Michael Jackson was a one-of-a-kind entertainer, as were many others. However, I still believe he molested children on a regular basis, and walked away "a free man", just like O.J. Simpson. Money "talks", and makes the guilty "free".

The website will go offline at midnight EST tonight for a brief maintenance window to add some additional RAM to one of the main servers to better accommodate system traffic. The maintenance window should last about 15 minutes, and during this time you will see a "down for maintenance" message. Sorry for the inconvenience. Wendy

Dear Team Captain Merica,

Izzat YOUR sand sculpture of the mama dragon and her hatchling in downtown Niles?!? If so, Sue-Sue and the rest of her team have some HARD competition!! If it were 12 hours later than what it is now, I'd pop a top and toast Team Merica!

For our faraway friends, I saw it in The Niles Star online this morning.

Sue-Sue,

I think I was in the tree next to you singin' Rock-n-Robin!

M.J. was a tortured soul that was painful to witness at times over the years. What an odd twist of fate to have come from nothing, out of Gary, IN, then worked a lifetime to have money and fame beyond comprehension only to die before his time, lonely, broken and disfigured.

Only God truely understood Micheal's inner struggles and life choices and has Judged him accordingly, as He will with all of us... and the 'Cirlcle of Life' continues.

Jim Lanier: sorry I didn't mention JL & GH. Or SRV, MW, JLH & JH. What about WJ and JC? Or BBK? Or BS? Wow, I've got the blues now, ya old hippie friend of mine!

Thanks, Linda for the "AMEN". How's your summer off going?

Tracy Reed, JH and JD were very awesome people, as well. I cried when both of them left us, and was stunned and shocked over Sonny Bono's demise,

I've had some computer problems lately, people. My mother "treated" us to two "bundles" in '07 from a place that rhymes with "Beast Buoy", a deal we couldn't pass up. Now we know why: both have FAKE COPIES of Windows Home Vista, on both HP computers, monitors, printers.

Just wondered if anyone else has been scammed by this company. I am doing a little background research here while I am able to be online at this time, and would appreciate anyone's feedback. I have all my "ducks in a row", as far as receipts etc. are concerned.

I HOPE that I don't have to call on our classmate and good pal from the FTC, whose name happens to rhyme with "Lance Gallon"!! Any suggestions out there? It might be days before I am able to get online again.

Please tell me It is more than 4 weeks because my 5 mile fast walks in the "Big Sky" hills have not kicked in yet!!I am so peeved! I think my scale is faulty..

07/01/09 09:57 AM #2726

Wendy Rehm (Comar)

I'm usually a silent monitor here but felt compelled to say----Please let us NOT worry about weight, scales, crunches or bathing suits. We are still here----and fabulous! Let it go.......we're doing just fine!

By the way, I'll be starting a "commerce" page very soon where anyone in business can have me post a link to their website, offer discounts, coupons etc. As soon as I get a free hour, I'll get it done. Several classmates are waiting for this---sorry for the delay--will be there soon I promise. We're all a great source of business for each other.
