Sharon Simons (Hettinger)
Wow...we can play with all sorts of fonts and colors and what-have-yous...
We had good weather for a while and last week I got to pick asparagus. Nothing better (although my mother couldn't stand it!), I think...than fresh-picked and then add a little EVOO (extra-virgin olive oil--no comments, Jim), and some garlic salt...just slightly "fried"...mmmmmmmmgood.
Waiting for a bit warmer weather to plant the garden. It has been a COOL spring (saving on a/c $$).
An invitation in advance to all classmates who live in the Grand Rapids and Detroit areas...--or those who wnat to travel a little bit!-- I'll be performing a carillon recital in each venue...here's the info:
Beckering Family Carillon: Grand Rapids -- Wednesday, July 14; noon.
Free concert! If you come -- please stay and say hello! or let me know you'll be there, by responding on the forum <G>
St Hugo's Roman Catholic Church: Bloomfield Hills --Thursday, July 15: 7 p.m.
Free concert!
If you're in the area, please come and enjoy a carillon concert.. If you've never heard one, you're in for a treat (BIG bells--aka "heavy metal" !!)... In most venues, the carillonneur lets the public in to see the instrument following a recital.
Carillon recitals are VERY informal--in that you can either sit and listen, read a book, walk around and enjoy the sound from various areas, or just close your eyes and let the sound carry over you. For listening, you want to be a good 50+ feet away from the base of the tower...
It would be great fun to see YOU!
