Don Nugent

Sorry to hear about Debbie....

Sharon, not to rub it in, but I think spring has sprung here in the rockies...60 plus degrees here today, tomorrow, and monday. I'd be on my motorcycle if I didn't have so much yard work to do...

Debbie is in a good place, Debbie is being taken care of with Love, it is US whom are suffering her loss and must move foreward with the pain. R.I.P.  Sincere Kat

I knew Debbie through her ex (?) husband Kevin Valade. I don't know what happened with them as we lost touch many years ago. I do remember, however, the family they started and recognize their names from the obit...makes me sad that I never reconnected. On another note, the horrible natural/manmade incident in Japan hits home as I worked in Sendai 10 years ago. I made friends with some of the locals and pray that they are alive. The thing that irks me most is the fact that the nuclear plant, that is in a near 'meltdown' state, had a radiation leak, when I worked in that area, and the gov't downplayed the incident as a simple 'malfunction'. I left the area 2 days later never to return...

Jack

HI JL  I found you!   Here hiding on the  '74 site!

Don, that's just not nice!   LOL   Teasing us with your warmer weather!   Enjoy the bike ride!

Glad to see this site up and "kicking" again !  Darn Facebook!  LOL

Curses! Found again!

Oh, did I mention you can "follow" me on "Twitter," I'm "@writesing"?? Translation for you old foggies: go to Twitter.com and sign up, then search for @writesing. As a reward, you'll read a couple rants about Neil Diamond being admitted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. There goes the neighborhood. Barry Manilow soon to follow... ...his greatest hits now available in Muzak format...

Sharon Simons (Hettinger)

Well...two bits of good news around here...

1. It was 78 degrees yesterday...today a bit cooler/cloudier...

2. KU (Univ of Kansas) made it to the next round; after a close first-half, they finally kicked it into gear... yea.

I've asked our 'local' nuclear power guys--John Hesser and Bryon Lietzke--to maybe say a few words as 'insiders' in that world...Maybe they can give us some better understanding of the situation in Japan?

Thanks, Gentlemen.

JL:

What about Dan Fogelberg? I thought he wrote some profound lyrics (at the time they seemed profound; I'd have to dig them all out again)...he actually had quite a nice vocabulary!

I loved Dan Fogelberg.  He passed away far too young!!  So did Chris Ledoux.  And Chris died the same day my brother did.  I like "storytelling" songsters, but not too sweet on the folk balladeers of the '60's.  Does this mean I am an old fart?!?

Jim Lanier

YO!

If you don't listen to Metallica at ear-bleed levels, Suzi, you are

An Old Fart!!!

Just kidding.

Dan Fogelberg, Sharon? Didn't he invent the elevator??

Debbie Curtis (Harrington)

Not sure if any of you knew my brother Dave, but he passed away Monday, March 7th at his home in Tallahassee Florida.  Hasn't been placed in local papers yet, so just wanted to let you guys know in case you see someone that maybe interested.

God be with him, and I hope he is at peace.

I'm sorry to hear your brother, Debbie.

Is it just me, or has March just been an awful month? People I know have died, mothers of people I know have died, one of my cats died, and the weather sucked! AAARRRGGG!

Here's hoping for a better April for everyone.

My Romeo died too, April will be better, bring it on please..

Karen McGregor (Bezemek)

Goodness there's been a lot of news (sad and otherwise) - nice to see conversation happening though. Yeah, March has not been much to write home about - as the saying goes. April is bound to be better! And May, well that will be a great month -- why I don't know but hey, why not!?!

Say, what's the best place to get a line up of what's coming up for Niles activities -- the Niles web site? I'm thinking music or other events down by the river maybe?

Also, is anyone in tune with the "Harbor _________" (can't recall the second word) city project between Benton Harbor and St Joe? I was at the Governor's Conference on Tourism in Kazoo a couple of weeks ago and sat through a wonderful presentation on the community efforts made with the golf course and improvements to the downtown area. Has anyone been over that way? Apparently Jack Nicholas and a trio of other golfers are going to be kicking off an event this next month -- or maybe it was May?

How about a homecoming week for this website??

Wendy has made a wonderful website here, and we ought to use it,

even if there's no reunion! The more the merrier!

In case you didn't know, this is better than facebook!

Oh this is much better than FB but I have been away for so long! Just got back from Nuevo Vallarta and read most of Jim's book on my Kindle...what a read! He has a lot of naughty words in there...couldn't fold the edges of the book but Kindle allows bookmarking! LOL

I'll be back soon for some extra added spice!

Hi everyone---Happy spring after a very lo-o-o-n-g, cold winter!  Hey, I am working on a little project for this website and was hoping you all would send me a list of songs and/or artists that remind you of our days at 'ole NHS (or junior high)!  And I will assume Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin will make an appearance on the list (remember Senior Prom)?  Anyway, send me your fave 70's songs.

Wendy

All right, here's the plan so far: everyone who sees this, send a message to 5 peeps, telling them to tune back in to NHS74.com, we're havin' a House Party (j. geils band, my music pick, Wendy).

I've already contacted Mrs. Malinowsky, I claim her, even though there is a temporal inconsistency there somewhen . . .

Oh yeah, Sheriff-- you been tagged! What's the penalty for graffitti in this site??

Karen B - The name of the golf course you're thinking of is Harbor Shores. Built on the "border" of St Joe and Benton harbor is is a very stylish course and something that southwestern Michigan can be proud of. It will host the Senior PGA tourney in '12 and '14. Jack N and three other "seniors" actually had a kick-off round sometime in 2010.

Sad news for Class of 75, Terry Leonard passed away last week from a massive heart attack.

Brenda Vogel (Visser)

I didn't know Debbie or Terry; my condolences go out to their family and friends...Their passing at 55 years young is a hard reminder that life is precious and we should enjoy each and every day with old and new friends.  We definitely should have a get together now that the weather is cooperating!  I nominate Steve to spearhead the festivities and figure out the what, when, and where.  Steve are you up for it?  Brenda

Steve Merica

Sure Brenda, i'm up for getting all of us together! Tom always helps me out too! Any ideas ! We will get something together this summer, if we have enough people!!
