No rapture here in Florida.  By the way I saw Niles Downtown won best in Michigan and will be on Discovery channel.  Anyone read Tommy James book "Me & the Mob and the Music"; alot about Niles High School in it.  Very interesting.

Randy...good to see you on the board again! I remember Tommy James (Jackson) and the Shondells because the back up drummer (I think) was Bud Chapman and he lived 2 doors down from me (Ferry Street). The band used to practice in Bud's basement...or maybe they were imposters/wannabees? I also remember (off topic) when Janet Yackey lived on Ferry Street (I was 9 or 10) and I used to trade baseball cards with her brother (Steve). I'm thinking that he probably got the best of me as he was older and wiser...

Not that anyone is counting...but can we all believe that this would be our 37th anniversary of graduating from NHS!?

Tommy James is too lightweight for me, Randy! I've gone straight to Keef Richards! Dick would like this! Funny, funny stuff, along with scary, scary stuff! Hard to believe he's made it to 68 . . .

The cook out weekend is the raft race weekend so their will be plenty to do in Niles that weekend. So if coming from afar it will be worth it!

Wendy Rehm (Comar)

Hello everyone---Faith has emailed me to put something on the home page about the get together this summer.  So can someone give me details?  This is what I see so far:

Date:  August 6th at Tower Hill/Bridgeman  (is there a rain date?)

Time?

Bring your own food and beverage (no alcohol allowed in the park- right?)

This is also the Niles Raft Race weekend.  When do those festivities start and where?  (I've been gone from Niles too long I guess)

Do you want RSVP's to someone?

Bring tools for possible sand castle building

Anyway, someone fill me in on the details and I'll post something.  Hello to all!  Wendy

Wendy,

Here you go...

If the weather causes a cancellation on Saturday, we'll shoot for Sunday.

We plan to gather at 10:00am, get the charcoal going, hang out and eat around noon.  We will gather to eat at one of the grill areas located along the main roadway to the lake after you get through the ticket booth.

Bring your own food and beverage - no alcohol allowed since it is a State Park.  We will include a fundraising discussion around the time of the cookout.

RSVP to the Class Site.

This is the link to the Niles Riverfest site:  http://www.nilesriverfest.net .  The 2011 schedule has not yet been posted, but should be out soon.  I recall events starting Thursday or Friday and lasting throughout the weekend.  I believe the raft races themselves start around 2 pm or so on Saturday.

Hope this helps.  Please post info to the Main Page.

Thanks!

Faith and Steve
