I use to have black belt, then Walmart had a sale and now I have a brown one...besides, I'm not a gladiator, any more...just a lovable ol' papa...

Re: The gynecologist topic from earlier...

A gynecologist had become fed up with malpractice insurance and paperwork and was burned out.

Hoping to try another career where skillful hands would be beneficial, he decided to become a mechanic.

He went to the local technical college, signed up for evening classes, attended diligently, and learned all he could.

When the time for the practical exam approached, the gynecologist prepared carefully for weeks and completed the exam with tremendous skill.

When the results came back, he was surprised to find that he had obtained a score of 150%.

Fearing an error, he called the instructor, saying, "I don't want to appear ungrateful for such an outstanding result, but I wonder if there is an error in the grade."

The instructor said, "During the exam, you took the engine apart perfectly, which was worth 50% of the total mark. You put the engine back together again perfectly, which is also worth 50% of the mark."

After a pause, the instructor added, "I gave you an extra 50% because you did it all through the muffler, which I've never seen done in my entire career."

LOL! Ain't that the truth Suz! I'm having a "senior moment" myself. I could swear that I heard that joke just last week -in some other context - not sure - either way- now I get it!!!! Thanks Bill ! :)

I was reviewing the military service section on this web page and just noticed it's a mens club....so that we're not perceived as sexist dominating !@*# (males) does anyone know if there's any female Vets in the Class of 74...come on there's got to be a few out there...

Steve have you ever played one on TV or maybe you stayed at a Holiday Inn Express. Now you will know why I never turn my back on you.

Okay- I got home at a little after 5, had a letter in the mail about the site and logged on. It's not almost 11 and I'm still laughing and reading and I forgot to eat dinner AND DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A DRINK!!

But I'm still in wonder that Cheryl is a high school science teacher. I will never forget the time we spent a good portion of one of Mr. Hodges science classes trying to explain to Cheryl that North wasn't straight up in the air.

Jim Lanier living off the grid in California. I can understand that. Kathy Holloway in a glamorous career. That I can see. Diane Scafaria still has those beautiful eyes. I'm having a wonderful time seeing the wonderful paths our lives have taken.

And 400 posts for people in Niles...many of whom went to Ballard and no one has mentioned the eighth grade history teacher D'Haze. Tracy Reed- remember sitting in the principals office after school let out for the year trying to explain things to the principal?

I am going to sleep now. I will NOT get addict. well.....maybe just check in once in a while....

Jodie --
So glad you're here! Oh, yeah, I remember Mr. DUH-Haze! After all, I was one of the founding members of S.C.A.D., wasn't I? (For the uninformed, that stood for Student Coalition for the Abolishment of D'Haze.) I'm sure our parents were extremely puzzled when we got sent to the principal's office for the horrible crime of practicing sign language! (Once, again, for the uninformed, that was regular old alphabetic sign language, not rude gestures!)

Wow- the list of people signing on to this site is growing quick. I guess that means the chances of more stories that we all don't want told may come out anyway. Steve M-- aren't you the one that nicknamed Mr Thomas, Omar T. Toad? Or, maybe that was Vance and that's why he remembers the paddle

what happened to our friend uuhhhhhhh huhuhuh jim?
We are all missing your prolific comments from "shakin California"

Well Katherine (Kathy?), I try above all else to be egalitarian in my ministrations, in other words, it's not all about me! I just chime in on the forum when it's slow. However, I post something nearly every day on my profile. Yesterday, for instance, I included an ode to asparagus. It's not for the faint of heart, though! (The profile, not the asparagus. Asparagus is, really, pretty mild-mannered. Even if we're old and everything. Why, I'm pretty sure they mush it up and feed it to babies. Although I'm no expert on babies, no siree. Never changed a diaper in my life, and don't plan on it. Unless you count those Depends things. They're handy for not having to get up too often at the bar.)

Hey Suzi, you know that age thing you mention about being 52...well I have dyslexia and can get away with saying I'm 25! ;) Not that anyone would believe me...

Cheryl Frame (Malinowski)

Jodi! That is hysterical that you remember that! I remember that argument like it was yesterday! My best evidence was, then why do people say "up north" and "down south". I think that I was just preparing myself for Ptolemy's discussion on geocentricty vs. heliocentricity! Don't worry Jodi - I don't teach geograpgy and I have a "Tom-Tom" when I travel!!

Susan Botts (Flowers--Class Of '75)

Jim L - ok I had to LOL at your comment regarding using depends at the bar.....and I thought I was the original one to think of this. I have been reading the posts and not commenting, but dang, this is so funny, and yes, I knew all along you posted to get people to respond. You are just as I remember, a very dry wit, and it takes alot to concentrate to understand what you are saying.
Also to you Steve M. you are also doing this as well to get the juices flowing, and doing a good job of it.
Jim L. - who did you date in highschool
Steve M - Who did you date in highschool
Cheryl F - who did you date in highschool
how about the rest, are you willing to post sho you dated?

Earl, it had to be someone else who coined that phrase not me...I was to much in fear of his paddle in those days...but I do remember that nickname.

Jodie Haines (Stackowiak)

Cheryl- yeah. I think there was something about looking up at the North star, too. I'm glad you remembered that! Funny the things we DON'T remember about high school (and junior high) but we remember silly stuff llke that. I remember Mr. Potts pink socks and arguing that "halves are equal" is the same as "halves of equals are equal" but don't ask me any formulas for triangles!

I remember a cartoon Jim Lanier drew in geometry class- that I still think I have somewhere!

As to who I dated-Don Roberts and I went to Senior Prom together.

During my junior/senior year it was Mary Clyde, she was from the class of 75...but moved away in the beginning of her junior year.

I didn't date in high school; I was saving myself for
Marvin Hamlish! (Obscure SNL reference.)
Actually, I am too much the gentleman to embarass the young ladies...

Hi all---Tom Bonner indicated that the Niles Inn will let us reserve a block of rooms at a discount for the reunion weekend. We don't know how many to reserve, so if you are interested, let us know via 'Contact Us' and we'll get them reserved. The normal cost is $69.99 + tax.

AND-- this is a great time to book airline tickets! I booked mine last night, $300/person round-trip from San Francisco! That's a couple hundred less than it was in 1994! Oh, and it's my birthday.

Jodie - C'mon, you mean you really don't remember the A squared + B squared = C squared? I think I still see that when I close my eyes sometimes. Or maybe is was because of the classmates that went to U of M and use to send letters (remember them?) with the return address of A squared. (The "squared" just doesn't look as good as a 2 - like it should but I sure don't know how to make it appear that way!)

Did anyone else notice how the mail must have arrived in Maryland? The last two folks to join (welcome Betsy and Julie!) both reside in Maryland.

JL - you did good on the airfair. From OKC to San Francisco is $280 and from here to Chicago is $200 so to fly the whole distance for $300 seems like a bargain for me! I only know the SFO/OKC price because I'm looking at an August baseball trip to the west coast.
