Sharon Simons (Hettinger)

Funny--I don't even REMEMBER that name --PINCHOT-- AT ALL!

Oui, j'ai parle francais depuis toujours!

I also had to learn German [for grad school, in addition to passing my French exams]! Who loves to put the verb at the end of the sentence? I tell you, you go through all of the story, and finally the verb is known.

I did find it helpful while traveling in Europe, though...

One of my memories that provides a chuckle every time: I was in France with several folks and we were driving by car, and we're on the back roads... I sensed we'd taken an incorrect turn and we stopped and asked two peasant ladies (in my best French, of course) which way to Taize? And the one gets very animated and says "gauche, et gauche" and one of my friends says, "what's so wrong/ off-putting about us?" She didn't understand "gauche" = left!

Don--about your winnings, of course, you must first send me the $10,000 via wire so I can add you to my most dearest ones... Who else gets those requests?!

$10,000...!!!!! Pocket change to a woman like u

03/27/09 06:20 PM #960

Tom Houseman

Pocket change - only because she has already convinced dozens of folks to send the $10,000. It's a ponzi scheme - stay away - she is wanted in 22 states for under the alias Sharon Simmone. (Supposed to sound French!)

I guess I gotta start looking under the seats in my wife car for that extra change that I missed the first time

Hey Sharon, that Y.Y. - Geometry was Youssef Yomtoob - one of my favorites at RLJH. I still remember telling him the joke about a famous tobacco and a famous movie in a dollar bill - I usually told it with a one dollar bill but he only had a twenty - don't know if anyone remembers but I ripped it in half and stated loud and clear "half and half and Gone with the Wind". I earned the paddle for that one.

margie! You, the paddle?? Would have never thunk that!

Oh sure, Vance, give us something else to mess with our minds! I don't know how you find these things. Yes, I did try it out and no, i don't know how they do it.

Vance Allen

Linda, be prepared and relax that brain, I have more coming... :)

03/27/09 09:33 PM #967

Linda Behm

I will be on vacation soon so i will get the opportunity to relax my mind! Except that I need to read a book for my superintendent and one for my classroom and make sure all the papers are graded and drive to where I am going and trying to figure out where I am going and remember to take my daughter and her friend whenever we go from one place to another...I think I have lost my mind!

Vance - You trying to get even for my comment about the Sooners being a bunch of criminals?

Hint - when you see the "chart" notice how all of the multiples of nine are the same symbol? Every answer will be a multiple of nine.

Hey Tom gets the prize for figuring it out! Okay, I guess we are even. :) Truce?

03/27/09 09:44 PM #970

Vance Allen

Linda, you will figure it out...any chance your daughter can help you drive...I believe in multi-tasking but all of that may end you up with a nervous breakdown.

P.S. Just saw you web page that she probably can't drive yet...when do kids these days get learning permits to drive?

03/27/09 09:51 PM #971

Linda Behm

She has driven out on the back roads...teaching her how to drive a stick! not bad for a 14 year old. We're just hitting the road next Friday after school and heading south! need the warmer weather...supposed to rain and snow here this weekend. Yuck. Some of her friends will be in DC over part of their spring break...so if you see any lost children with New Prairie on their shirt, just tell them Mama Behm says HI...LoL

Okay, I'll keep a look-out for her tour group. DC is already getting bombarded with School trips, buses everywhere...it usually starts this time of the year with warmer weather, plus our Cherry Blossom Festival starts in April. All the tree blossoms are starting to bloom here. Have a safe trip and relaxing vacation!

03/27/09 09:59 PM #973

Linda Behm

thanks...i think that it actually will be

03/27/09 10:01 PM #974

Linda Behm

i was there with all the blooming blossoms one time when visiting a friend from college...he is in Panama now, i believe

You should chaperon your daughter's class visit and then you could visit DC again.

03/27/09 10:14 PM #977

Vance Allen

Oh, sorry I miss-understood...my eyes aren't the best these days. Yeah, I'd rather go to Florida too. :) Got to go, its been a rough Friday at work. I'll chat with you when you get back. Goodnight.

Bev F.: you were in Orlando and you didn't wave at me down here in St. Pete? Hmmph. I had Mr. Dennison, and I just loved his classes, even though his toupee was always a little "crookedy"! I enjoyed hearing his tales about "travel with Mother". He and Mrs. Styers helped shape my interest in travel and ancient history.

Linda B.: I remember Mr. Pichot...he was a pretty smoooothe character! I enjoyed his classes, as well, and my French name was "Sylvie". I took our language classes for granted, and never bothered to pursue a "second year". A gazillion years later, I wish I had!

Sometimes my staff-peeps cannot understand someone who is trying very hard to order a meal in broken English, and I am frequently called upon to "assist"! Like, I have a clue?!? Seriously, I do have an "ear" for foreign languages (my grandfather was Italian, but only spoke it when he was around his Italian friends), and have learned to "decipher" orders. And the "most funnest" part is putting them at ease and making them laugh while helping them speak "more gooder" English, no matter where they are from.

Chris Burt mentioned Ryan Overbeek. A lot of us gals had crushes on him. But I had the biggest "crush" on Robert Zellers, a guidance counselor, at Lardner. I mean, come on...he had a silver Corvette, for heaven's sake! Good lookin' and a car like THAT? Any of you gals remember HIM?

Well. And you'll like THIS, JL: the only man that has ever come (that) CLOSE to my "dreams" has been "Thomas Sullivan Magnum". So, there. "HIGGINS, GET THESE DOGS OUTTA HERE!"

Guess I was late in posting my response! There's a Hampton Inn a block from my house...I want everyone who is sick of winter to come on down and see me. It was 85 today, but I AM jealous of CFM going to Mexico...where do people from Florida go on vacation?!?

03/27/09 10:40 PM #980

Beverly Finney (Geist)

Sorry, Suz...Too much to do, so little time. I did try to get with Faith M. but she said they were going to be seeing their new grandbaby Would of loved to touch base with you. We had a great time. Didn't want to come home. The older I get the more I hate the winters up here. All of you who have moved on made great decisions. Now that I have grandbabies up here I don't know if I could ever leave them behind..But I'm thinking that warm weather in the winter is in my future. I did get a nice tan while we were there. Everyone up here is very envious. I don't remember the counselor..I will have to look in the yearbook and find him.

Sharon, post some pictures if you have them. I lost a lot of things in a fire a few years ago. It was devastating. Those things can't be replaced..
