Debbie Curtis (Harrington)

Okay....so I will keep my place at the Holiday Inn Express.

Thanks guys for the place to talk about 'old times'. Never in my wildest dreams (and they were pretty wild sometimes) I would have ever thought we'd all even still be here?? Crazy times back in the late 60's early 70's....when I turned 25 it was the hardest birthday of my life. Mostly because I never thought I'd see 25!! Oh well, the good Lord must have a purpose for me somewhere along the line?? Still trying to see what it is.

Okay, so I'm tired and drunk and I never choose to talk, but after my weekend with my four grandsons's, I need and out, oh and by the way......I guess I will have to get busy and put some pictures on...yaa??

Well, maybe not till tomorrow?? Takes too long to spell correctly, let alone do uploads.

So, important information.....where do you "Old Local Niles" folk go to have a cocktail out?...sorry about the OLD. Just in case, I have a Family Memorial to come down to in June for an Aunt and Uncle that died in Florida this past year and maybe I can get to see?? someone for a change?

Linda, boy that was a whopper! Gee, I hope that older guy down there in South Beach didn't know a guy named "Dexter"!

Pam, I'm sorry...I was thinking one CASE of beer with those wings. Wink-wink.

Deb,

My hometown is Berrien Springs now; the mighty "Shamrocks"! Truthfully... there's nothing "mighty" about a shamrock, but we are what we are. Now, I don't know where the locals hang out in Niles, but you're more than welcome to hang out with me, where ever that may be, when you come into town.

What do you mean you were'nt in with in crowd, dude if you are in the class of "74" you are the in crowd!!

Jim Lanier

Right on, brother Steve, let me hear you say, "get down with yo' bad self!"

From what I've observed, there were a lot of shy people in high school, myself included. This leads to cliques, because people don't have to break the ice, they have something in common already. The important thing, as you noted, Neil is, it's not important any more; we're mature now (except for Bonner, of course), and we can try to realate to people from a knowledge that we've all got more in common than we have differences.

Coming from a current 8th grader's perspective, these are the groups: The Preps, The Nerds, The Goths, The EMOS, The Skaters and then (this cracks me up) The Regulars/normal.

Sharon Simons (Hettinger)

I think Jim (Lanier) is correct. A lot of us were shy, or at least 'not popular'! I was thankful to be involved with the choirs, pit band, rehearsal pianist for the musicals, etc...I loved that...and playing for instrumentalists who were involved in 'solo and ensemble' (music contests) for local and regional/state. In that regard I met a lot of people, but was not 'popular.'

I think there were a number of cliques...be it certain classes, or from certain parts of town, or in various sports, etc...

Probably THE CLIQUE right now includes all of us on this forum!

No matter where one travels, there are those folks who associate just because of common interests. And when various individuals help connect people with different interests to achieve a higher/broader goal, then other barriers fall away.

Even (or even moreso?) in the churches I have served, I see various 'cliques.' It's a human-nature thing... And, folks can feel comfortable being with like-minded contemporaries.

Speaking of all of us...

A question to Wendy/Mike Peters/Tom B---

After the reunion---do we still get to access this site and keep up the conversation, or are we shut down???

I love the repartee that we have!

Linda Behm

Let's hope that we can keep it going...this has been great!

Don Nugent

I, myself plan on posting alot of pics from the fish fry, seeing as how I will not be able to make the reunion this year. So I hope that we will be able to keep the conversation going, be it manure or other, until the 40 year reunion, which I plan on making..
P.s. very well put, sharon

Oh and welcome home Vance!!

04/21/09 06:05 AM #1348

Steve Merica

I'm with you Sue! But I think we are safe! If I had to talk to someone normal, I would'nt know what to say!

04/21/09 08:12 AM #1349

Tom Bonner

I thought "normal" was an old setting on a clothes dryer

Wendy Rehm (Comar)

Hi everyone---I've been asked by quite a few people if this site will continue after the reunion in August. Rest assured that I have no intention of deactivating it! I have purchased our domain name for 3 years---if the site continues to be active, I'll keep renewing that and will add new functionality whenever I can. I intend to keep this up and running for all our enjoyment---but it takes all of you to help me do that! Your job, if you chose to accept it (hear Mission Impossible theme song in your head) is to keep coming in and participating. I'll do my job of keeping it up and running. Deal? Wendy

Kat - When we have to start to pass out Depends at reunions is when I stop coming to them.

04/21/09 02:14 PM #1353

Linda Behm

Wendy...how much does it cost and would you like us to help supplement that cost?

TH--I think we may need DEPENDS at all reunions from here on out if we laugh like we do on this site!

LB - At least at home we can blame it on one of the pets!

04/21/09 04:27 PM #1356
