Jim...gotta go with your thinking. I remember doing a Civil War "dig" about 2 years ago, in the Tallahassee area, and I didn't find much of anything. The FSU peeps, and their crew, found musket balls, buttons and the like but I came out with nada. Maybe I was using the wrong dig and sift routine? Next time I'll get one of those new fangled metal detectors...

Jack, you gotta go to Chattanooga and climb up the side o' that big ol' mountain! Or find the wilderness in Virginia.

Well folks, we're just days away from being less than a month away from being within beating range, as Cheryl put it. Still workin' out the details, but it looks like a party at the Riverfront on Tuesday, Sept. 27. Unless it's past your bedtime . . .

With all the hoola about tommy coming to town and his book and now the movie I wonder how they'll show the white hose? Will it be the party place or the fight house of old. I worked there as a bouncer for 9 years and actully grew up with tommy in my back yard. My sister dated craig velineau who was tommys original piano player up until the time he got his first big record deal and then the real shondells were out. I wonder how the original band is going to take this part of the story?

Rex...interesting how the 'bits and pieces' of our lives unfold and literally add value to, seemingly, events that transpired during different periods of our lives. Another shard of information that has cemented who we are and what we experienced so many years ago. Thank you for sharing your experiences and knowledge, first hand, with what has/will be a milestone event for the Niles community and it's people...well done!

Rumor is Val Kilmer will star as Tommy James---huh?  Really?  Why can't it be George Clooney who needs a place to sleep while he is in the area to film the movie?  I'd even feed the guy.  Pretty, pretty please!!!!!

Val Kilmer???? I think the guy's too old to play the role of a teenager so they (producers) must be thinking that they're going to use Val as a 'present day' Tommy and use an age appropriate actor to most accurately portray Tommy as a young man. I think a 'Top Gun' era Val would be more accurate but that's not possible is it? Whatever the outcome, I'd like to see the movie when it hits the streets...straight to DVD maybe? Nice of you to offer your culinary skills to George Clooney Wendy...what's on the menu? Cheers!

Could they get the kid who played Harry Potter to play Tommy James? He would just be magical! He could play air guitar and they could CGI-in an old Martin or Strat . . . or maybe just use his magic wand? They can do anything with CGI! And magic wands.

I went to the concert with my older sister. It was very good. People were dancing in the aisles (although they were drunk!) Sang all of his "hits" and some I'd never heard.

I agree, Wendy. VAL KILMER???? just can't see it. TJ isn't that good looking!

I learned some useful stuff in Mr. Eldred's class.  I still recall one of his favorite catch phrases when he would empart some nugget of knowledge, "that's good to know" he would say.

Hello!  Just checking in since it's been a while.  Hope everyone is doing well!  I'm in Niles until next Wednesday...baby Brother Toby is getting married...big shindig at The Allure in LaPorte.  Looking forward to it!!!

Been really busy the past several months getting settled into a beautiful new home...will post pics soon.  Have two rental homes now and shooting for two more before the big retirement day...shooting for 2 yrs, 5 months, at most!  Of course if LM comes out with an incredible incentive for early retirement I will grab it in a heartbeat.

Hot tub time...catch y'all later!

Well Becky and I had a great visit to the state between the lakes! Thanks to all who hooked up in one of the various cities. I can personally recommend the Artprize in Grand Rapids. And it was pure sweet fun hanging out in Niles on a rainy night or two. Oh, and it was good to see Michigan back when they were undefeated . . .

. . . my handlers advise me I also attended MSU . . .

Happy Holidays to all!  Safe journeys if you happen to be traveling -- please drive courteously and defensively and wear your seatbelts!   Last December I was in a tip-over accident on an icy road, but no one was hurt because all four of us were buckled up.  Seat belts save lives!

12/27/11 03:09 PM #3757

Jim Lanier

Tracy, I haven't been in a tip-over accident since the Fayette Bar! Couldn't find a seatbelt there, to save my life! So I had a belt while seated . . .

Jolly holly days to all, and to all a good tip!
