Well, of course, Kat; it's all about me!

Upon reflection, I've decided to change some of my messages posted previously on the forum:

In msg # 1872, I want to add "if all statutes of limitation have expired."

In msg # 2222, I want to add "but I mean that in the nicest possible way."

In msg # 2233, I meant to say, "Oh yeah? Well so's yer muther!"

In msg 2525, I meant "if man is still alive/ if woman can survive, they may fly."

Also, in all my postings, I did not mean to post anything which would disqualify me for the office of president of the United States or any big companies.

Thank you.

J.L. --

I just about fell out of my chair when I saw your quotation from "In the Year..."   I have that song in my eclectic 45s collection.  And that gave me an idea for a new topic that might get this forum bouncing again.

What was the very first record that you bought?  (45 or 33)  And if you can remember, how much did you pay for it?

Mine was a 45 of "MacArthur Park"  (someone left a cake out in the rain...)  I bought it at the old downtown A&P Supermarket that was near the retirement high-rise.  I think it was 79 or 89 cents.  That represented almost two hours of babysitting wages!

Checking in...Love MacArthur Park, Tracy.  I was somewhere recently where this song came up and someone asked, "What in the world does that song mean, anyway?"  For those of you whom are still wondering, the song is about a great love lost. At the time it was written, Jimmy Webb lived near MacArthur Park in LA.  Jimmy and his love used to go to MacArthur Park together. In the song, you are taken back to the park where he is thinking about where he and his love went and what they did, but mourning the loss of the relationship and wondering if he'll ever love anyone as much again. The cake is a symbol of something that was wonderful and sweet but ended up destroyed.  There you go!

Looks like those of you in the Northern States need a trip down to Florida to cool off!  Crazy weather lately!  Doing well here.  Keeping busy.  Working hard.  Enjoying life.  Enjoyed the Ice Wars and the Car Show in Niles a couple weeks ago.  Will be back the beginning of August for my Family Reunion and hopefully some of those Niles Summer Concerts at the Waterfront.  Better bring my air conditioning with me...ha ha!  Hope everyone is doing well!

Anyone in the Springfield, MO area?

I'm playing a carillon recital on sunday (12 Aug), 7 p.m., at Missouri State University...come to the library  there, as the carillon is attached to the library.  (i guess they didn't think about students studying with the carillon being played!)

it's free... outdoors, wander the grounds, enjoy a game of frisbee, or... just sit and read/listen!

I haven't written anything for awhile , but my first record was of Hanky Panky by you know who Tommy James & the Shondells & it cost me a wopping $.49 & I got it at Spin-it records when they were right next  to the original Ready Theater. It was put out by Tommy himself so they could have a record of there own on the shelf. The label was red&white kinda checker board. The reason I remember it so well is my sister was dateing Craig Velenua & he was the keyboard player for the Shondell's That was 1965.

Sharon,

I'm so sorry for your loss. They're like children aren't they? My wife and I have been through this and the pain was almost too much at times. I pray that you can find peace in the fact that you gave your friend the best possible life it could have and that one day you'll meet up again and the rainbow bridge will give you a renewed family member. Peace and hope be with you Sharon...I'm sorry.

Here is  a new announcement from Charlotte Crandall Guajardo:

For all students who graduated from Fairland Elementary School, Stafford Road, Niles, MI, there is an annual potluck get-together in tandem with students from all the one-room schoolhouses that have educated our local citizens in the past. Before there were suburbs and school corporations and a busing system, each neighborhood had a one-room school building to which the students walked; grades 1-8 studied in the same room. Although these schools are no longer operational, the students still like to get together to remember and share pictures and stories.

The organizers have included Fairland and Electric Light Elementary Schools' students in their events for several years. Next meeting will be in August, 2013, currently planned at the Berrien Springs Middle School cafeteria; bring a dish to pass, place settings, and a small donation to defray the cost of the rental and other expenses.

Contact her by e-mail (
guajardocharlotte@yahoo.com) in August, 2013, for a definite date and time if you are interested in a Fairland Elementary School reunion. Bring pictures and stories and we'll reanimate the past!

Do you have a picture or know where Cathy Tennison might be. She went to Ring-Lardner in the 6th grade. She was born around 1951-1953.

Pretty quiet on the FORUM!

Is everyone hibernating? :)

We had a little bit of snow today. Quite the springtime surprise.

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!

Just saw Tracy's question on the first record -- mine was Lightening Strikes, Lou Christie and I bought it at, you guessed it, the Spin-it Record Shop in 1965. I can still hear it and know the words. Crazy how that stuff 'sticks'.

Have a wonderful weekend!!
